Join us for an evening of painting, play, and appreciation as we honor the life and creative legacy of the late Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Kusama, who passed away in August 2026 at age 97, spent more than seven decades creating art and became internationally recognized for her bold use of repetition, polka dots, infinity, and, of course, pumpkins. She continued painting until the final days of her life.
We'll begin with a brief introduction to Kusama, her work, and the ideas and imagery that became part of her unmistakable visual language. Then we'll pick up our own brushes and use her work as inspiration for a playful fall painting.
Working with acrylic paint, you'll choose between canvas or art board and create your own pumpkin composition while experimenting with dots, repetition, pattern, and bold color. Rather than recreating a specific Kusama artwork, we'll celebrate her influence by letting her fearless approach to art become a jumping-off point for our own creative exploration.
No painting experience is necessary. Come learn about an extraordinary artist, make something of your own, and spend an evening honoring a life devoted to creativity.
