Find the connection between your brain and your spine, your heart and your hands, your guts and your feet while you are making any type of art or craft.

This class series offers simple, accessible awareness tools and practices to follow for feeling more ease, confidence, meaning, trust, and joy in your own body and mind as you explore artmaking in any medium.

By turning the eye inward to study elements of the physical body, you’ll also explore all that a body holds that is unique to your own experience.

Each class session will follow the same structure and incorporates personal time for reflection and expressive notating of your experience.

Common Questions

Where do these practices come from?

Janna draws from three main approaches, blending elements of each practice:

  • Body-Mind Centering® – integrated and embodied approach based on anatomical, physiological, psychophysical principles, utilizing movement awareness;

  • Contemporary Dance Practice– a moving meditation and mind-body integration framework;

  • And, Life-Art Process – a movement-based expressive arts therapy method that uses dance, drawing, and writing to connect real-life experiences with creative expression.

I’m not a dancer. Why would I take this class?!

Oh, this is NOT a dance class. There are no steps, no one watching, no one judging.

Consider it to be more of a guided meditative journey where deeper sensing and perception will be activated and allow creative insight, image, and expression to easefully surface.

There is no pressure or expectation on how you engage and is accessible to all experience levels and abilities. Each class is 2 hours long, and can be taken as a complete series, or any one as an individual class.

What will I come out of class with?

  • You will definitely know more/feel more about anatomy.

  • You will for sure walk out with three or more newsprint sketches or writings that document your own exploration.

  • You might…

    • feel more comfortable in your own skin.

    • start your art/play practice in a new way.

    • hold your materials differently.

    • sense or feel the textures, light, or colors.

    • sketch or draw with another route to trace.

    • feel more at ease when you approach the hand on the page, or the brush in the water.

  • Everything is connected, so you can expect to have some ripples into your life and art in unexpected ways.

After the Intro session, Janna will be hosting a 4 week series, going deeper into theses themes. Learn more and sign up for those here:
