Common Questions
Where do these practices come from?
Janna draws from three main approaches, blending elements of each practice:
Body-Mind Centering® – integrated and embodied approach based on anatomical, physiological, psychophysical principles, utilizing movement awareness;
Contemporary Dance Practice– a moving meditation and mind-body integration framework;
And, Life-Art Process – a movement-based expressive arts therapy method that uses dance, drawing, and writing to connect real-life experiences with creative expression.
I’m not a dancer. Why would I take this class?!
Oh, this is NOT a dance class. There are no steps, no one watching, no one judging.
Consider it to be more of a guided meditative journey where deeper sensing and perception will be activated and allow creative insight, image, and expression to easefully surface.
There is no pressure or expectation on how you engage and is accessible to all experience levels and abilities. Each class is 2 hours long, and can be taken as a complete series, or any one as an individual class.
What will I come out of class with?
You will definitely know more/feel more about anatomy.
You will for sure walk out with three or more newsprint sketches or writings that document your own exploration.
You might…
feel more comfortable in your own skin.
start your art/play practice in a new way.
hold your materials differently.
sense or feel the textures, light, or colors.
sketch or draw with another route to trace.
feel more at ease when you approach the hand on the page, or the brush in the water.
Everything is connected, so you can expect to have some ripples into your life and art in unexpected ways.
This offering is part of a new series:

Dot by Dot: Mindful Mandala Painting
November 16 | 6–8 PM
Instructor: Claire Gall
Ages 15+ | Participants under 18 must attend with an adult
Slow down, settle in, and discover the mesmerizing art of dot mandala painting.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, artist Claire Gall will introduce you to the tools and techniques used to build intricate mandala-inspired designs one dot at a time. You'll learn how to work with dotting tools, experiment with color combinations, create repeating patterns, and use simple techniques to turn individual marks into something beautifully detailed.
There's no need for a perfectly steady hand or previous painting experience. Part of the magic of dot painting is allowing yourself to focus on one small mark at a time and watching the larger piece gradually emerge.
Along the way, you'll have plenty of room to experiment with abstract patterns and make the process your own. Dot painting can be both playful and meditative, offering a chance to quiet some of the mental noise, shift your attention to what's right in front of you, and simply enjoy making.
You'll leave with your own completed dot painting and the foundational skills to continue exploring the technique at home.
All materials are provided. No previous art experience necessary.

Through playful movement exercises, body exploration, and rhythmic grounding, we'll explore the balance between movement and rest, allowing the body to unwind, the breath to deepen, and whatever we've been carrying to settle. Together, we'll make room for reflection, release, and the quiet possibility of renewal.
No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to try something new. Expect a welcoming, judgment-free space to shake off the day, reconnect with your body's wisdom, and find your own rhythm as we welcome the winter season.

Common Questions
Where do these practices come from?
Janna draws from three main approaches, blending elements of each practice:
Body-Mind Centering® – integrated and embodied approach based on anatomical, physiological, psychophysical principles, utilizing movement awareness;
Contemporary Dance Practice– a moving meditation and mind-body integration framework;
Each class is 2 hours long, and can be taken as a complete series, or any one as an individual class.

Pumpkins & Polka Dots: A Tribute to Yayoi Kusama
October 15 | 6-8 PM
Ages 15+
Join us for an evening of painting, play, and appreciation as we honor the life and creative legacy of the late Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Kusama, who passed away in August 2026 at age 97, spent more than seven decades creating art and became internationally recognized for her bold use of repetition, polka dots, infinity, and, of course, pumpkins. She continued painting until the final days of her life.
We'll begin with a brief introduction to Kusama, her work, and the ideas and imagery that became part of her unmistakable visual language. Then we'll pick up our own brushes and use her work as inspiration for a playful fall painting.
Working with acrylic paint, you'll choose between canvas or art board and create your own pumpkin composition while experimenting with dots, repetition, pattern, and bold color. Rather than recreating a specific Kusama artwork, we'll celebrate her influence by letting her fearless approach to art become a jumping-off point for our own creative exploration.
No painting experience is necessary. Come learn about an extraordinary artist, make something of your own, and spend an evening honoring a life devoted to creativity.
All materials are included.
Sliding Scale: $5–$25
Choose the amount that works for you. Everyone receives the same materials and workshop experience regardless of the price selected.
All skill levels welcome.

Haunted Landscapes
October 3 | 11:00–1:30 PM
Ages 18+
Celebrate the arrival of spooky season by transforming a vintage landscape into something delightfully haunted. In this playful, process-focused workshop, you'll choose from a collection of thrifted landscape paintings and breathe new life into them by adding friendly ghosts, glowing windows, mysterious moons, wandering spirits, bats, pumpkins, or any other eerie (or whimsical) details your imagination dreams up.
Whether your final piece is spooky, funny, cozy, or somewhere in between, this workshop is all about creative experimentation, storytelling, and giving overlooked artwork a second life.
No painting experience is necessary. Acrylic paints, vintage paintings, and all materials are provided.
Come embrace the unexpected, celebrate imperfection, and leave with a one-of-a-kind piece that's ready to hang for Halloween.
Dot by Dot: Mindful Mandala Painting
Thursday, October 1 | 6–8 PM
